
Jihwan,Choi
Biography
Professor Jihwan Choi is currently affiliated with the Department of Aerospace Engineering at KAIST.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University and Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in EECS from MIT, he worked as a Principal Systems Engineer at Marvell Semiconductor in the U.S. (2006-2012) and as an Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Information and Communication Convergence at DGIST (2013-2021). His research interests include the application of satellite, wireless communication, and AI/ML technologies. He currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems and IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine.
Key Technologies for Intelligent 6G Low Earth Orbit Satellite Communication Networks
To establish a 3D hyper-connected network accessible anytime, anywhere, and to realize space-hyperspace AI, the application of innovative technologies such as on-board computing and AI-RAN to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite networks is essential. This presentation will introduce key technologies for realizing intelligence, virtualization, and openness in large-scale 6G LEO satellite networks and forecast their future development directions.
