Biography
Prof. Jaehyun Kim received his Ph.D. from Hanyang University in 1996 and worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UCLA, USA in 1997 and as a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs, USA in 1998 for about 5 years.
Since 2003, he has been a full professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Aju University, where he is engaged in teaching and research. During his tenure, he served as chairman of the Department of Space Electronics and Information Engineering, chairman of the Department of Electronics Engineering, dean of the College of Information and Communication, and now dean of the College of Advanced ICT Convergence, leading the university’s education, research, and organizational operations.
His main research interests include 6G cellular networks, satellite communications, TN/NTN integrated network implementation, UAV MAC protocol research, mobility management research, etc. He is also actively exploring cube satellite fabrication, partial gNB, handover in LEO-NTN environment, QoS/5QI design, Doppler-TA compensation, ground station/terminal communication simulator, reinforcement learning beam hopping algorithm, deep learning based satellite orbit estimation, satellite NR PHY/NB-IoT simulator, etc.
Department of Electronics and Space Electronics and Information Engineering, Ajou University
The Department of Electronics at Aju University was founded in 1973 with the opening of Aju University and has been in operation since then. In the Department of Electronics, classes in satellite communications as well as telecommunications are included in the curriculum. In addition, we participate in the annual CES electronics show in the U.S., visit overseas IT companies, and conduct undergraduate academic exchange programs with prestigious foreign universities. The Department of Space Electronics and Information Engineering in the Graduate School was established in 2002 as a cooperative course in space instrumentation and information engineering through the Ministry of Education, and operates an interdisciplinary program in the field of science and technology that combines space electronics and satellite communication. We are researching core space technology and space utilization technology by dividing systematic research on space electronic systems, theory of satellite observation, and satellite communication utilization research.
